About Us

Tanisha is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the founder of Tanisha J Therapy Group. She specializes in trauma-informed care, helping individuals understand the root of their patterns, process difficult experiences, and build a stronger sense of self.

With experience supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, and unresolved trauma, she takes a thoughtful and direct approach to therapy while balancing compassion with insight. She is trained in evidence-based practices, including EMDR and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and tailors treatment to meet each client’s unique needs. Her approach is also informed by both her clinical training and personal life experiences, allowing her to connect with clients in a genuine and understanding way.

Tanisha is passionate about helping individuals move from survival to self-worth. She believes healing happens when individuals feel safe, understood, and supported while doing the deeper work of understanding themselves and their experiences. Her work is rooted in the belief that lasting change comes from healing at the root, not just managing symptoms.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process and heal from distressing experiences. It uses guided techniques, such as eye movements, to reduce the emotional intensity of past memories.

EMDR follows a structured process that includes preparation, processing experiences at your pace, and strengthening more positive beliefs. Sessions are guided and tailored to your comfort level, without requiring you to relive trauma in detail.

EMDR may be helpful if you find yourself replaying past experiences, feeling stuck in certain memories, or having difficulty separating from the emotions connected to them. It can also support those experiencing ongoing anxiety, triggers, or patterns that feel hard to break. During initial sessions, we will determine together the best approach for your needs.
